About Blue Lizard Studio

Blue Lizard Studio is the private project studio of Richard Davidson, who operates all BLS's aspects of recording and engineering.

A keen guitarist and enthusiastic devotee to sound and recording technology, Richard progressed from playing in college and pub-gigging groups to indulge his interest in recording music.

In 2002, after researching acoustics and studio design, he embarked upon building a bespoke private project studio. The resulting facility comprises a control room (in which the majority of equipment is housed and where all audio editing, mixing and mastering takes place) and an adjacent isolation booth, specially treated to create an acoustically neutral recording space (particularly ideal for the clean recording of vocalists). Although space is limited to accommodating a maximum of two or three clients per session, BLS has a full compliment of microphones and mobile equipment capable of recording full bands on location, either by arrangement at a nearby 'live room' or at the clients' own venue. Further overdub recording and subsequent editing, mixing and mastering can then be completed back at the studio.

As a business, BLS is dedicated to providing professional sound recording and editing services to singers, musicians and other clients throughout the surrounding area, utilising a comprehensive range of high-quality, industry standard digital and analogue equipment.

Richard holds a Law degree (LLB Hons) and has worked as a teacher for many years (BTEC Music Performance and Music Technology components at Grimsby College and as co-ordinator of the Music Technology A Level course at The Lindsey School & Community Arts College in Cleethorpes). He is also a member of the Chartered institute of Educational Assessors (CIEA) and works for the Edexcel exam board as an examiner of recording coursework for the A Level Music Technology specification.

Richard has wide ranging experience in live & studio recording, PA engineering and working with dance & theatrical performances and school groups. CRB Full Enhanced Disclosure (required for working with children) and Public Liability insurance are held.
